It's hard for a male R&B singer these days, but Atlantic recording artist Jaheim has managed to quietly resurrect his career, after a three-year absence, with his new project, Another Round. He hadn't released an album since The Makings of a Man, back in ‘07, which could've been his death sentence in these "flavor of the month" times.Now, to bring even more and significant attention to his return, he's enlisted our favorite award-winning actress, Regina King, to both direct and star in his new video to the single, "Finding My Way Back." The video was shot in Los Angeles earlier this month and is set to debut this Friday, April 30, on Centric as part of its Top 20 Countdown show. "Back" is the second top 10 single off his new album, along with "Ain't Leavin' Without You."Regina should bring real star power to the promo tool, which will more than likely send the song to the top of the charts. If music appeared in color, Ester Dean’s would dazzle in eye-popping neon.
Look at her logo: her name, sprawled in WOW! POW! font typically used to detail exploits of comic book heroes. Consider her hyperkinetic first single, “Drop It Low,” and its corresponding video, an over-the-top explosion of Technicolor, candy-coated youthful exuberance.
“I’m young and I’m fresh,” she exclaims. “My music is energy. It’s like a freaking wave. Whatever I come with, it’s full force. I should have been on Ritalin when I was younger.” Indeed, Ester proved she was a maverick early. Growing up in Muskogee, Oklahoma, she was influenced by her church-singing mom and the blues she played around the house. One day, Dean flipped through the Yellow Pages, looking for a studio.
“When a guy took my call, I blurted out, ‘I can sing’.” And she sang, over the phone. Soon, she was shuttling between school and the recording studio. Fantasia Barrino -- High Alert After Hate Mail
Fantasia Barrino is under a self-imposed lockdown -- after the "American Idol" champ received a threatening letter. It all started last night at the Pantages Theater in L.A. -- Fantasia was reading her fan mail after a performance of "The Color Purple." Fantasia's manager tells us Barrino became alarmed over a disturbing letter loaded with racial slurs -- including the n-word -- and a line that read, "go back where you came from and die." We're told the person who wrote the letter claims he used to work as a security guard for Fox while Fantasia was on "A.I." Fantasia's manager tells us the singer immediately contacted theater security -- which then contacted the LAPD. In the meantime, we're told the theater has "beefed up" security around Fantasia -- and all over the venue -- and will be screening anything sent to Barrino's dressing room before it gets to her. Fantasia tells TMZ, "I will not be defeated by one isolated person's hatred."

JESSE IDOL Live performance "The War of Roses R&B Showcase and Party" will be on Saturday, February 13, 2010 at Sputnik. The location is 262 Taaffe Place between DeKalb and Willoughby (closer to DeKalb). Doors open at 8 PM with the showcase starting at 9 PM and a party directly after.
